i woke up from a dream to find myself in the middle of a farm of cubicles harvesting the power needed to maintain energy for the corporate establishment...these are my findings...

The future exists depending on the actions of today.

It has begun. The blame game for the Virginia Tech tragedy has begun. Video games? Movies? Society? Parents? The government? Virginia Tech? The war in Iraq? Who’s ultimately going to get the brunt of the blame for what happened on the Va Tech campus Monday morning? I’ve already read articles blaming video games and how the mass murderers of tomorrow are today’s kids being violently programmed by the video games they play. I think it’s irresponsible and ignorant for the media to place the blame on one factor. Obviously there is no ONE cause for WHY this mad man did what he did. And if there is well then only him and God know it now. We as people should not be reporting what we THINK is the cause for people doing such things simply because we don’t know. We don’t know why the Columbine shootings took place we can only speculate and assume. And again it’s irresponsible for one media outlet to blame another media outlet for something so tragic. The only thing we can do as society as a whole is to come together and not point the finger at one another. All we can do is raise our children to know better, to teach them that this is never a justified action and that there are other ways to solve problems than violence. Also parents need to take more responsibility for their actions or lack thereof. If a parent allows their child to see the Saw movies with no explanation that “it’s just a movie” then they are in a way allowing their child to take the violent images and bloody scenes as reality.

My question is, with the onset of video games based on movies becoming more popular, if Grand Theft Auto was based on a movie, which would get more of the blame? The movie? Or the video game? My money is on the video game.

There is no one source of blame when something like this happens. It can be too complex with too many factors for any human being to make a judgment and rationally place the blame on one thing. A logical human being will understand that when something like this happens it is because of a number of things like their upbringing, the environment and atmosphere in which they were raised, if they’re left or right handed, if they said their prayers every night before going to sleep, if they honored and respected their parents, if the father was a wife beater, if there was no father, if they were beaten or picked on as a child, if they liked scary movies as a child. Point being there are countless reasons a person could/would do something as tragic as what happened. And blaming one sole thing as the reason is irresponsible and can very well be the downfall of humanity as we know it.

The future exists depending on the actions of today.
